Abbottsfield Edmonton Homes for Sale
Bordered on the north by the Yellowhead Trail, the east by the North Saskatchewan River valley, the south by 118 Avenue, and the west by 34 Street is the neighbourhood of Abbottsfield. Immediately to the south of Abbottsfield is the neighbourhood of Rundle Heights, separated by Victoria Trail, with Rundle Park below that in the river valley.
Development of Abbottsfield didn’t start until the late 1960s, after the amalgamation of Beverly and Edmonton. Abbottsfield is located in an area closely associated with Beverly, which was a coal mining town with one of the major mines being located in the Abbottsfield area. Abbottsfield was named after Abraham Abbott, who was a resident in the coal mining town, as well as a school custodian in the Beverly School District for a number of years.
